The Calming Revolution
The Calming Centre started a special movement in January 2013. The Calm Revolution is a movement to unite all people with their inner calmness. In a world where stress in an epidemic and is the main cause to many disorder and diseases, calmness is a technique to help your health and prevent illnesses.
It’s time for people to invest in their individual calmness. Take at least 5minutes of your day to calm yourself.
When we experience calmness our body responses with boosting our immune system, produces hormones correctly and overall functions like an ideal body should.By starting with you, others around you will benefit also and have a ripple effect in to the community. Only YOU can know what makes you feel calm so discover ways today and join the Calm Revolution.
The following are just some basic examples of calming practices and techniques:
Meditation (this can be as simple as focusing on your breath - research a variety of ways to find the one that resonates with you - BUT know that the main idea of meditation is to allow THOUGHTS that no longer service you to be RELEASED. Thoughts during meditation are good so become a witness to them and allow them to leave you.
Exercise - Walking, hiking, biking etc. in a natural setting
Volunteering - This is a great way to ignite your heart and connect you to your community and humanity. It can be as simple as giving out a meal to those in need once/year; reading to children and/or seniors; spending time with someone dying (hospice, senior home), many of whom are left alone in these days, it will truly awaken your life’s meaning - it is NOT depressing but quite amazing and full of gifts you couldn’t possibly imagine; getting involved with events in your community.
Visualizations - a very effective tool - when we recall calming things, places, people, experiences our body has a positive physiological response. Search and explore for visualizations that have a calm effect on you (ex. fractal images or sacred geometry is amazingly calming to look at)
Make a List - simple things can make us calm so make a list of them and attempt to do at least one each day. Examples are bubble baths, laughter (especially children’s), a phone call to friends/family, making your favourite comfort foods
